XX Meeting of COM/CITEL will be held in San Jose, Costa Rica from December 3 to 5, 2008

CITEL PCC.III met in Asunción, Paraguay

CITEL met in Paraguay for the first time in more than twenty years in the city of Asunción.

The major items on the agenda of the meeting included:

a) coordination with PCC.I Working Groups on Standards and Equipment Certification which also had scheduled their meetings to coincide with the PCC.III meeting;

b) preparations for the 1997 ITU World Radiocommunications Conference;

c) a review of the mandates of PCC.III and PCC.I for the purpose of improving the effectiveness of the overall organization;

d) adoption of guidelines for the use of associate member funds;

e) preparations for the Meeting of Senior Telecommunications Officials scheduled for September of this year; and

f) two seminars: one on Personal Communications Systems and the second on Telecommunications in the World Trade Organization.

Chairman of PCC.II retires Mr. Ronald Begley, the Chairman of PCC.II retired from his position in Industry Canada in March 1996, and consequently from the chairmanship of PCC.II. Mr. Begley has been a long time participant in CITEL activities and we wish him good health and an enjoyable retirement.

PCC.II to meet in Puerto La Cruz, Venezuela

The new Chairman of PCC.II, Mr. Ralph Zeitoun, also from Industry Canada, has announced that the Second Meeting of PCC.II will be held in Puerto La Cruz, Venezuela from 30 April to 3 May 1996 along with a seminar on DTH/DBS technology in the Americas.

The seminar will be the first day of the meeting, 30 April, 1996.

Preparatory Session for the meetings of Senior Telecommunications Officials (STO)-July 31 to August 1, 1996

A preparatory meeting has been scheduled to initiate the necessary documentation for the STO Meeting. This preparatory meeting will be held at the OAS headquarters in Washington.
