a month of great activity for CITEL |
|
In two weeks, several meetings of great relevance
for CITEL future work will take place. On November 29
the meeting to organize the texts of the Blue Book on
"Telecommunications Policies for the Americas", which will
subsequently be presented during the COM/CITEL meeting
will be held. Following from November 30 to
December 3 will be held the XIV meeting of COM/CITEL where we will
have the opportunity to analyze strategies for the future of CITEL and
to establish its priorities and program of activities. Finally,
December 6 to 9, the IV meeting of PCC.II will consider, among others,
the preparation of WRC-07, use of the 450 MHz band, use of RLAN in the
5 GHz band, low power devices, the procedures to be used for
the authorization of Earth Stations on Board Vessels (ESV) and the
implementation aspects of regulations to facilitate the deployment of
satellite services.

CANTV (NYSE:VNT) announced on November 5,
2004 that its Board has approved the Letter of Intention signed by
Telecom Italia Mobile S.p.A (TIM), for the
purchase of 100% of the shares
of Corporación Digitel, C.A. (“Digitel”)
for a total value of US$ 450
millions.

Santiago de Chile and there were more than 10 thousand participants.
In the opening ceremony, the UnderSecretary, Mr. Nicolai, emphasized
