The National Institute of Standards and Technology
(NIST), along with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), the
Inter-American Telecommunication Commission (CITEL) of the
Organization of American States (OAS), and the
Telecommunication Certification Body Council (TCBC), are
hosting an International Mutual Recognition
Agreement /Conformity Assessment Bodies (MRA/CAB) Workshop at NIST in
Gaithersburg, Maryland, United States of America, October 3 to 7,
2005. This workshop will include concurrent sessions in order to
accommodate countries who are new to the MRA process, as well as those
who are already participating.
This workshop will cover various aspects of EMC and
telecom in relation to the U.S.-EU MRA, the APEC TEL MRA, and the
CITEL MRA. Regulators, CABs and Accreditation Bodies from the United
States, Canada, European Union, Asia-Pacific Economic Community (APEC)
members, and CITEL Members will give presentations on the overviews of
the MRAs and the various aspects related to the implementation of the
MRAs. The U.S. TCB Council will meet and host sessions on new
technologies such as MIMO, smart antenna, WiMAX IEEE 802.16, and 3G
and beyond.
Both Member States who are planning or considering
to implement the MRA are encouraged to send to this workshop their
regulators and personnel who are engaged in the planning and
implementation of the MRA. The proposed Agenda of this workshop is
attached and for more information on the agenda, Member States are
