Following last year’s successful videoconference on VoIP, which
allowed USTTI trainers to interface with hundreds of regulators and
entrepreneurs of the Americas attending
CITEL’s PCC.I meeting in Asuncion, the USTTI
and CITEL have reached agreement with the World Bank’s Global
Development Learning Network (GDLN) to utilize the World Bank’s
technical infrastructure to deliver elements of the USTTI’s wireless
broadband curriculum via a second videoconference.
The interactive videoconference will
be held on Monday, April 25, 2005; 2:00 -
5:00 PM, EDT, and will include USTTI
presentations, country presentations, case studies, and a question and
answer session.
To date, confirmed USTTI presenters include
representatives from Intel Corporation, Lucent Technologies, QUALCOMM Incorporated, and
the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).

Additional Information:
This Workshop will be held the day before the V meeting of the
Permanent Consultative Committee II, Radiocommunications including
Broadcasting, to take place in Guatemala city, Guatemala, April 26
to 29, 2005.
This workshop will afford an opportunity
for participants to engage in a detailed discussion with experts
on the key topics referred to below:
- Wireless Broadband Technology: Available options and their
benefits, cost and benefit analysis;
- Deployment Options and Obstacles;
- Technology standards, Security Issues, Interoperability;
- Spectrum and Policy Requirements.
For this Dialogue, videoconferencing will be used to link
Guatemala City with Washington., D.C. and three other sites. |
