The Dominican Republic holds its first national forum on the transition from analogue to digital broadcasting

The Dominican Republic organized its first forum on the transition from analogue to digital television broadcasting on August 4-5, 2005. This important event marks a step forward in the country´s progress towards the implementation of the new digital technology.

The Regulatory Body (INDOTEL) took as reference the DTT Implementation Guide in the Americas approved by CITEL and a work program.

The basic objectives were to implement actions to support the Dominican Republic in the task of beginning the transition process from Analogue to Digital Broadcasting, as quickly as possible, under the present economic and social conditions.

The forum was attended by owners of television channels, managers, technicians and representatives of the broadcasting industry, who had the opportunity to interact and learn about the experiences of countries such as the United States, Brazil, Argentina and  Cuba in the development of Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) services.
