The Dominican Republic organized its
first forum on the transition from analogue to digital television
broadcasting on August 4-5, 2005. This important event marks a step
forward in the country´s progress towards the implementation of the
new digital technology.
The Regulatory Body (INDOTEL) took as
reference the DTT Implementation Guide in the Americas approved by
CITEL and a work program.
The basic objectives were to implement
actions to support the Dominican Republic in the task of beginning the
transition process from Analogue to Digital Broadcasting, as quickly
as possible, under the present economic and social conditions.
The forum was attended by owners of
television channels, managers, technicians and representatives of the
broadcasting industry, who had the opportunity to interact and learn
about the experiences of countries such as the United States, Brazil,
Argentina and Cuba in the development of Digital Terrestrial
Television (DTT) services.
