Results of the VII meeting of the Permanent Consultative Committee II

The VII meeting of the Permanent Consultative Committee II, Radiocommunications including Broadcasting was held June 20 to 23, in Lima, Perú, thanks to the kind invitation of the Ministry of Transport and Communications.

In this meeting we had more than 230 participants and more than 200 documents and revisions were analyzed in issues such as: preparation of the World Radiocommunications Conference of 2007 (WRC-07), Terrestrial Fixed and Mobile Radiocommunication Services, Satellite Systems to Provide Fixed and Mobile Services and Broadcasting.

We highlight among the several decisions adopted the approval of recommendations on: use of the 4940-4990 MHz band in the Americas, use of wireless systems in commercial operation, and their associated bands,  for universal access  in rural and low population density areas, alternative use of the 698 – 806 MHz band in the Americas for advanced wireless systems and public protection and disaster relief applications  and a resolution on common regulatory basis for the operation of earth stations on vessels (ESVs) in the Americas. The preparation of the WRC-07 has increased its interest because of the nearness of the event and we have 10 documents with preliminary views, preliminary proposals, draft inter-american proposals and inter-american proposals.

The next meeting will take place October 17 to 20 in Caracas, Venezuela.
