The VII
meeting of the Permanent Consultative Committee II,
Radiocommunications including
Broadcasting was held
June 20 to 23, in Lima, Perú, thanks to the
kind invitation of the Ministry of Transport and Communications.
In
this meeting we had more than 230
participants and more than 200 documents
and revisions were analyzed in issues such
as: preparation of the World Radiocommunications Conference of 2007 (WRC-07),
Terrestrial Fixed and Mobile Radiocommunication Services, Satellite
Systems to Provide Fixed and Mobile Services and Broadcasting.
We
highlight among the several decisions adopted the approval of
recommendations on: use of the 4940-4990 MHz
band in the Americas, use of wireless
systems in commercial operation, and their associated bands, for
universal access in rural and low population density areas,
alternative use of the 698 – 806 MHz band in
the Americas for advanced wireless systems
and public protection and disaster relief applications and a
resolution on common regulatory basis for the operation of earth
stations on vessels (ESVs) in the
Americas. The preparation
of the WRC-07 has increased its interest because of the nearness of
the event and we have 10 documents with preliminary views, preliminary
proposals, draft inter-american proposals and inter-american proposals.
The next meeting will take place
October 17 to 20 in Caracas, Venezuela.
