Spectrum management

The management of a scarce resource as the spectrum is a worry for national administrators. The right use, the interferences and the economic value for the society are important issues for the countries.

In the Americas, the need for training is a fundamental aspect so as to increase the number of experts in the countries. With this objective in mind CITEL and the ITU offered a distance learning course of five weeks from April 19 to May 22. In this course participated persons from Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, El Salvador, México, Nicaragua, Paraguay, Peru, Republica Dominicana, Uruguay y Venezuela, a total of thirteen countries. The exchange of information among participants was an important aspect of this course that had more than one thousand e-mails exchanged during the five weeks. CITEL support and fellowships, the ITU preparation and the technical and personal support of the Center of Excellence were fundamental for the success of the course.
