CITEL has released the publication Universal Service in the
Americas. The text
focuses on governmental strategies and programs to
ensure universal coverage of telecommunciation services
among all population groups in the Hemisphere. It is a
crucial reference for the development of the sector in
the region.
The book is published jointly by CITEL, the International Telecommunication (ITU) Union
and the Asociación Hispanoamericana de Centros de
Investigación y Empresas de Telecomunicaciones (AHCIET).
It covers universal access/service handling in the ITU,
in CITEL, in the World Trade Organization negotiations
on basic telecommunications and in each CITEL member
country. There is a wealth of statistics about the
sector.
The book is a limited edition so CITEL
is making it available in Adobe Acrobat Reader format
(pdf) to all users interested in these issues. Spanish
